ONSHORE TEMPORARY PARTNER VISA - Subclass 820
This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily. Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 801).
Stay Temporarily while we process your permanent Partner visa (subclass 801) application or it is withdrawn.
Cost
From AUD7,715 for most applicants.
From AUD1,285 for Prospective Marriage visa (subclass 300) holders.
You pay for the temporary and the permanent visa at the same time.
Processing times
• 75% of applications: 23 months
• 90% of applications: 27 months With this visa you can
• live, work and study in Australia while we process your permanent Partner visa
• travel to and from Australia as many times as you want
• attend free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program
You must
• be in a genuine relationship with your spouse or de facto partner who is an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen
• be in Australia when you apply for this visa and when we decide your temporary visa application. Family who apply with you must also be in Australia With this visa you can
• stay in Australia until we decide your permanent Partner (Migrant) visa (subclass 801) or that application is withdrawn • work in Australia • study in Australia (you will not receive government support)
• travel to and from Australia as many times as you want
• attend up to 510 hours of free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program • enrol in Australia’s public health care scheme, Medicare Include dependent children

ONSHORE PERMANENT PARTNER VISA – SUBCLASS 801
This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia permanently.
It is usually only for people who currently hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 820).
Stay Permanently
Cost You paid for this visa when you made your combined application for the temporary and permanent partner visas.

• 75% of applications: 22 months
• 90% of applications: 26 months With this visa you can
• live, work and study in Australia indefinitely
• sponsor eligible family members to come to Australia
• apply for Australian citizenship if eligible You must
• hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 820)
• in most cases, continue to be in a married or de facto relationship with your sponsor With this visa you can
• stay in Australia indefinitely
• work in Australia
• study in Australia
• enrol in Australia's public healthcare scheme, Medicare
• sponsor your family members to come to Australia
• travel to and from Australia for 5 years
• if eligible, attend free English language classes provided by the Adult Migrant English Program
• if eligible, apply for Australian citizenship Travel to and from Australia for 5 years
You can travel to and from Australia as many times as you want for 5 years from the date we grant this visa. This is as long as the travel facility on this visa remains valid. If you want to travel after the initial 5-year travel facility:
• you will need to apply for and be granted a Resident Return (RRV) so that you can re-enter Australia as a permanent resident
• you might also want to consider Australian citizenship. If you become an Australian citizen, you don't require a visa to enter Australia.
You will need to apply for an Australian passport and use it to leave and re-enter Australia.

OFFSHORE PROVISIONAL PARTNER VISA - Subclass 309
This visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen live in Australia temporarily.
Getting this visa is the first step towards a permanent Partner visa (subclass 100).
Stay Temporarily, until we decide your permanent Partner (Migrant) visa (subclass 100) application or the application is withdrawn

PARTNER MIGRANT VISA – SUBCLASS 100
The visa lets the de facto partner or spouse of an Australian citizen, Australian permanent resident or eligible New Zealand citizen, live in Australia permanently. It is usually granted to people who hold a temporary Partner visa (subclass 309).

SUBCLASS 300 PROSPECTIVE MARRIAGE VISA
This visa lets you come to Australia to marry your prospective spouse and then apply for a Partner visa.

• 90% of applications: 16 months With this visa you can
• stay in Australia for 9 months from date of grant of visa

• study in Australia at your own expense
You must
• be 18 years old or older
• be sponsored
• intend to marry your prospective spouse before the visa period ends With this visa, you can
• stay in Australia for up to 9 months from date of grant of visa
• work in Australia
• study in Australia at your own expense
• travel to and from Australia as many times as you want Partner visa If we grant you this visa and you and your spouse want to settle in Australia, apply for a Partner visa (subclass 820 and 801)
• after you are married, and
• before your Prospective Marriage visa ends You will pay less for the Partner visa if you apply for it while your Prospective Marriage visa is still valid.
How long you can stay
This is a temporary visa.
You can stay in Australia for up to 9 months from date of grant of visa.
The visa period starts on the date it is granted. Include family

We cannot process your application if you do not pay the correct visa application charge. We will notify you if this is the case. Your obligations You and your family members must meet all visa conditions and obey Australian laws. Your marriage You must enter Australia on the Prospective Marriage visa before the date specified on your grant letter.
You must have married your prospective spouse before your Prospective Marriage visa expires. You can get married in Australia or any other country. Your marriage must be valid under Australian law.
